This is a general discussion of EOP bandwidth requirements for vWorkspace.
Quests Experience Optimized Protocol (EOP) is a collective name for the enhancements that Quest vWorkspace delivers for Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). If all of the EOP features are disabled (from client or server) then the protocol used is RDP without extensions. In addition, any RDP client can connect to vWorkspace without modification - EOP is only used when the client/connector supports the enhanced features.
At an 8-bit color depth a desktop of 1024x768 is perfectly usable with RDP on a connection with <50kbps bandwidth available for standard productivity apps such as Office. Adding color depth and resolution increases bandwidth requirements and using multimedia, graphical and animated applications will increase bandwidth use further, or result in slow screen updates when bandwidth is not available. Other factors affecting bandwidth requirements include the version of RDP in use, which is determined by the server: 2003/XP = RDP 5.2, Vista/2008 = RDP 6.1, Win7/2008R2 = RDP 7.0. Each is better than the last. Also, ClearType requires more bandwidth when enabled.

Another consideration is that, when planning WAN link sizes, multiple users will not all peak their bandwidth requirements at the same time, and so the average bandwidth provided for all users can be lower than that considered minimal for a single user.
At this time, EOP consists of 8 features, and here is their effect on bandwidth compared to non-enhanced RDP:
In summary, in almost every situation, EOP will use less bandwidth.
The vWorkspace 7.1 System Requirements documentation incorrectly states the "WAN Acceleration (EOP Xtream) Network Environment" bandwidth requirements as 384kbps in 3 places. 384kbps will provide a very acceptable experience for almost all use cases, but it is not a minimum requirement. The documentation set will be corrected in the next release of the software.
