During themigration QMMhas the ability to not only migrate users/groups/contacts etc., but also the OUs themselves. The following guide walks through how to properly migrate OUs to the target Active Directory.
1. Start a new migration session by right-clicking on migration and then choosing New session.
2. Give the migration session a name.
3. On the select source objects section, click the Select button. This brings up source domain view.
4. On the OUs that need to be migrated, right-click the OU and choose Select. After doing so you will see a grey checkbox. This signifies that this OU is to be migrated. You can also select objects such as users etc within the same session if needed. Perform step 4 until the entire path or the individual OUs are selected. Alternatively you can just click on the OU - it will then be selected including all the sub-containers and objects underneath it.
5. On the select target container section, you must choose the location where to create the objects on the target. Please keep in mind that if you are selecting an entire OU path to migrate, the location specified here is where the path will begin on the target. If you have selected top level OUs to migrate and wish these OUs to be placed into the root of the target, please simply select the domain as the destination, and not a OU.
If you migrate OUs and the users contained within them in the same session, the users will be placed within these OUs in the target domain as well. However if you migrate only users after the OUs have been migrated, all of the users will be placed in the location specified under "Select Target Container".
*** NOTE: QMM cannot migrate OU permissions which have been inherited. If IsInherited = True on the ACE then the ACE will not copy to the target domain. QMM logically cannot migrate inherited permissions from the domain root or from other domains.
Note:To migrate OU permissions during the migration session, please make sure the Security Descriptor Migration rule is set correctly. Thisoption is found on the Set Security Settings dialog box within the migration session. For additional informationplease refer to the Migration session section of the Quest Migration Manager User Guide.
