In a situation where, for example, a backup archive and it's associated metadata files have just been brought over from tape there will be no savepoint listed for it in the My Repositories view in the vRanger GUI.
The vRanger 4.x/5.x equivalent of a 3.x restore from .info is the restore from manifest. This works by browsing to the location of the Manifest.metadata file for the VM you wish to restore. Instructions for doing this are below.
1) In the My Inventory view select Add | Restore Job
2) You will see the "Advanced" radio button selected. Next to this there is a box with a drop down arrow at the far right, click on this and select "Restore from SavePoint Manifest File"
3) Enter a Job Name and click "Next"
4) Browse to the location of the Manifest.metadata file for the VM you wish to restore and enter credentials with read/write access. From here it works the same as a regular restore from savepoint.
