VA-Based backups or physical backups to a CIFS repository failing with the following error:
Error: 2258 - FATAL cifs_cant_mkdir CIFS can't create the directory cifs:domain;username@IPaddress/Repository/VirtualMachine_VM-UUID (Permission denied) [at cifs_mkdir:685]
This occurs when the virtual appliances or the physical agent IP addresses are not listed in the client access list of the CIFS share located in the repository device.
Add the IP address of the VA and/or the physical agents to the CIFS share. The instructions to perform this may differ for every device or operating systems, please consult your hardware/OS vendor to perform this.
To verify that the physical client has been allowed, open the share from the Windows server and create a file inside the folder. If the permissions are correctly set, it should allow the file creation.
