TOAD status bar section crash after disconnect and try to re-connect. The section at the bottom of the screen now cannot be closed, we trying to click on the X. The only workaround is to end task TOAD.
Replicate the issue on a test environment by following the steps below:
1. Connect to a network database.
2. In the editor window, Close out the Output windows at the bottom.
3. Run a query
4. Go to your DOS command prompt and run ipconfig /release to disconnect from network.
5. Run the query again.
6. Now you will see the Gray-out Output status bar at the bottom. This window cannot be close, and Toad cannot be close either. Can ONLY be kill from task manager.
7. Go back to your DOS prompt and run ipconfig /renew to reconnect to network.
8. Go to Session | Test connection (reconnect)
9. Run the query again, that Gray output window is still there.
So when this happen, the only way to get rid of the gray window is to kill Toad and launch it again.
WORKAROUND:
Have the Output window open at the button by going to the menu View | Output Windows. With this window open, you will not encounter the problem.
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in future release for Toad for Oracle.
