What is the new Generative AI (AI Explain) feature of Toad Data Studio and how to use it? (4376871)

In Toad Data Studio 2.0 Subscription edition, a new generative AI feature - AIExplain has been introduced. Using the power of AI, Toad examines your code providing an explanation of its purpose. Learn more about AI and Toad at Toad World.

Prerequisite: AI Explain is only available to Subscription license holders. Term license holders are excluded to use this feature.

To use the feature:

1. Verify your Toad license and version from Help | About window: 

• The product name should state Subscription and AI. For example: "Toad Data Studio AI Subscription". See below attached screenshot.
• The version number must be version 2.0 or higher. 

2. For entitled users, the feature is only accessible to those who have enabled the feature via the license portal:

a. As a license administrator log into the online License Portal

b. Locate the license in the portal

c. Click manage or view details of the license

d. Click Settings tab and navigate to the Features section

e. Enable the feature for the license by agreeing to the terms. Enable the feature for all users, or use the Seats tab to enable the feature for individual users. Those users will receive an email regarding activation of the feature.

3. Once the feature has been enabled, you will receive an email about feature activation. In Toad retry AIExplain icon (or click Refresh License) to start using the feature.
