If either an Incremental or Differential Backup type is to be created, ensure that Circular Logging is disabled. The Exchange Server overwrites files if Circular Logging is enabled, making it impossible to reliably restore from the transaction logs. Open the Exchange Management Console. |

Close the Exchange Management Console, and restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service for the change to take effect. |

On the Properties dialog box, select the Maintenance tab, clear the Enable circular logging check box, and click OK. |
