To find out which server is causing account lockouts, please perform the following steps:
- login to the Active Directory Domain Controller, which is carrying PDC FSMO role
- open Event Viewer, Security
- filter events by enabling Event ID 4740
- verify each entry to make sure that affected account is listed and write down the name of the source server that generated the account lock
Following steps should be done quickly before account locks again:
- unlock the affected account in ADUC (Active Directory Users and Computers)
- open Core console
- re-protect the affected server with correct credentials
- if server is running SQL and/or Exchange, then please use appropriate drop-down menus on the right pane for the affected agent and re-type correct credentials there as well
