'You are attempting to install NetVault Backup Server on an unsupported operating system or version' installation error.

NetVault Backup Environment Details:

NetVault Backup: 10.x Server
Operating System: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64Bit

Running the NetVault Backup 10.x Linux Pur64 installation version, results in the following error message:

'You are attempting to install NetVault Backup Server on an unsupported operating system or version'

Unfortunately Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64Bit is not supported with NetVault Backup 10.x Server version, as NetVault Backup 10.x now includes a PostgreSQL NetVault Database instead of a Flat File Database.
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64Bit is supported for NetVault Clients.

Note: Also make sure that all the pre and post installation steps have been performed; otherwise NetVault Backup will not function correctly.

I would advise to perform/check the following steps for a supported installation:

1] Make sure that all relevant prerequisites have been perform from Chapter 3 (pages 15-17) of the NVBU 10.0.1 Installation Guide.
2] Make sure that all platform specific requirements are also done from Chapter 3 (pages 17-21) of the NVBU 10.0.1 Installation Guide.
3] Make sure that all relevant platform specific post installation requirements are done in Chapter 6 of the NVBU 10.0.1 Installation Guide (Pages 40-42).
