For best practices, adding items to local catalog or requesting to KACE for adding software to DAC depends on few things. First thing you should do is to verify whether the software exist in the catalog or not. This can be done by looking at the “Discovered” or “Not Discovered” tabs under software catalog tab. If the software is displayed there, it exists in catalog.
- If the software already exists in the catalog and only a newer .exe version that’s not showing up, then the best approach is to wait for 48-72 hours. E.g. Microsoft Project 2010 version 14.0750.1000 isn't under the main entry.
- If the software is completely missing from the catalog, irrespective of version of .exe, then it’s a good idea to add it to the local catalog and submit the request to have it adde to the global catalog.
- This can happen for some smaller publishers or proprietary software.
