Upon launch of Toad, the following error message may appear:
1. Error message "Invalid operation in GDI+ (Code 1)"
or
2. Application error with module name Kernel32.dll
or
3. "The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the application at location (0x7c812fd3)"
or
4. Toad does not launch, but no error message displays.
or
5. "Critical files missing! The following files not found...Toad.pdl and ToadInsPd.pdl"
Appears to be related to the following Windows system update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2896666
when Toad is installed on Windows XP. The Window security update should not be apply to Windows XP, but if somehow it was installed on your system, please follow the Resolution below to undo the update.
WORKAROUND for error number 1,2,3 and 4:
Please update the Registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Gdiplus\DisableTIFFCodec :
2. Change the value of DisableTIFFCodec to “0”
WORKAROUND for error number 5:
Contact Support to request a clean copy of Toad.pdl and ToadInsPd.pdl for the version of Toad that is failing to launch.
