How do you carry over settings from a previous install into Toad for Oracle 11.5 and newer?
You can carry over setting from a previous install of Toad in the new version of Toad 11.5 and 11.6.
In Toad 11.5 there is a feature under Utilities | Copy User Settings. Please use this to carry over setting from your previous install into the 11.5 version.
By default, when installing and running 11.5 it will automatically bring over some of the previous commercial version's settings. It will bring over the previous desktop and layout setting but will not include any toolbar customizations, i.e. extra tool icons and menus added from the Customization window, not docking settings for the window bar or connection bars are carried over, etc. This is in an effort to make visible the new features and menus added in Toad 11.5.
But if you want to carry over these toolbar customizations from a previous install, then use the option "Copy User Settings" to migrate these setting into the 11.5 install. Keep in mind, doing so may cover up/remove some of the new menu/icon options that were added in 11.5. If there are new 11.5 menu items you still want to access, along with bringing over your previous install's toolbar customizations, you will need to add these new menu times back into the toolbar after using the "Copy User Settings" option. To do this, right click over your toolbar | Customize. From the customize window you can click and drag the items you want into the toolbars and or rearrange existing icons and menus.
