When going to QMM RUM Group (PC Collections) properties and selecting Move Computers to Domain option, the Select target NETBIOS domain name drop-down list appears to be grayed-out. In addition other errors may pop up such as: Error. The service has not been started. Please see attachment for an example.
This indicates that RUM is unable to locate any domains on the network. The discovery is performed based on either Local Computer Browser service, Master Browser in the domain specified by PreferredMasterBrowser registry key or computer name \\NAME referring to this Master Browser specifically. Please see the following Quest KB for more details:
Resource Updating Manager cannot perform the Add Computers from Network and Add Computers from File operations in the complex multi-domain environments. - https://support.quest.com/SUPPORT/index?page=solution&id=SOL57840
After update is installed, you should run Registry Editor, browse the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AelitaMigration Tools\CurrentVersion\Resource Updating Manager\ registry key ( or the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432\Node\AelitaMigration Tools\CurrentVersion\Resource Updating Manager\ registry key on the computers running 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows) and create new PreferredMasterBrowser string value.
Important: QMM version 8.5 and later already has this hotfix included and no installation is required.
Please ensure that NETBIOS domain name scan be resolved on the local network when relying on Computer Browser service configured for QMM RUM. For troubleshooting the following command line can be used:
