Description:
Sysop Message Internal Error
Symptoms:
Attempting to take a VM Snapshot or mount a VM File System produces a Sysop Message that just says "Internal Error"
Solution:
The internal Error message is passed from VMWARE through Netvault Global Notification there is generally no other
Netvault log entry for this warning.
1. Look in the events log on the Vcenter host for evidence of a VMWARE Error getting logged there.
2. The hostd logs are located: /var/log/vmware/hostd.log. Use the tail command, for example:
"tail -200 hostd.log"
You will notice an entry in this log just about the same time Netvault issues the internal error message.
The logs are enumerated and generally the log file without a number is the active log.
The log entry will indicate some process or function call has failed. Note the process or function call. Then see the VMWARE knowledgebase at:
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/microsite.do
for further troubleshooting.
