How to Install an Agent on a Windows Machine (4041274)

This KB gives Best Practice guidance for installing and Rapid Recovery Agent.

Prerequisites:

1. Before installation, make sure Agent servers meet operating system and resource requirements per Release Notes, Sizing Guide, and / or Rapid Recovery Installation and Upgrade Guide located at Rapid Recovery Technical Documentation.
2. If upgrading an Agent with a build prior to 5.4.2, you must first upgrade to the Agent to 5.4.3, then upgrade to 6.0.1.
3. Download Installers:
   • Agent software: Log into the Rapid Recovery Download Software page or the Rapid Recovery License Portal and download the installers required for your install.
   • Latest Patches (Updates) if available: Updates are only available through the Rapid Recovery Download Software.
4. You may also use Bulk Protect to deploy Agent software to Windows machine from the Core Console. See How to Deploy Agent Software.

Steps:

1. Copy x86 or x64 installer to servers Agent software is to be installed.
2. Go to the Agent Installer EXE, right click on the file, and select Run as administrator.
3. Follow the installation prompts until install is complete, reboot when completed.
   • NOTE: A reboot of the Agent is required for the install to compete.
4. Apply Update if needed. Applying a patch on an Agent does not require a reboot.
5. The server can now be protected by the Core.
