When the infrastructure of the network changes and the K1000 appliance IP address changes, the agents will no longer be able to located the appliance in a DNS environment unless changes in DNS are made as well. The best solution is to create a DNS Alias on the DNS Server to temporarily re-route traffic from the agents to the appliance as the new IP address.
- Find and Right click on the K1000 directory listed on the DNS server. Select Properties.
- Select New Alias (CNAME).
- Fill in the old K1000 appliance hostname and IP address in the top field and fill in the new K1000 appliance hostname and IP address in the Fully qualified domain name field.
- Click OK to save.
- Once the agent software has checked into the new appliance IP address, the information will update itself on the client. After all the agents have checked into the appliance, the DNS Alias may be removed.
