Error 1006: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.' (4282180)

From the Enterprise Report Configuration manager, the node may be showing in a failed to stop state, or when attempting to uninstall it may fail

When Attempting to start  the Node service  on Node Server fails with Error - Error 1006: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.'

Attempting to uninstall the Node from Add remove programs, Nothing happens

Resolution

1. Check the file C:\Program Files\Quest\Enterprise Reporter\Node\ReporterNode.exe.config and see what size it is and if it have anything in it.
2. Open in Notepad, If the file is 0kb  or Empty, Delete the file
3. Try the uninstall again from add remove programs. It should be successfull
4. Then push the Node again from the Enterprise Reporter Configuration Manager

Please note: If you have an Enterprise Reporter version prior to 3.0, any folder/registry paths referenced may contain the non-Quest branded path instead of ‘Quest’
