To resolve this issue you must update the ApplianceProvisioningConfiguration.xml file to properly reflect the currently configured drives. To do so:
- Stop the core service
- Make a backup copy of C:\ApplianceProvisioningConfiguration.xml
- Open C:\ApplianceProvisioningConfiguration.xml with a text editor
- In the file you will see two entries under the section labeled BackupVolumes
- Validate which entry is correct by running the attached PowerShell script (findApplianceVolumeInfo.ps1) from an elevated PowerShell Console. The script lists the actual volume configuration and attempts to open the ApplianceProvisioningConfiguration.xml file in the root of the drive C:\ to help identify the configuration differences.

Once the problematic entries are identified, do the following:
- Delete the invalid entry from the BackupVolumes section (if both entries are valid, delete one of them).
- Save the file
- Copy the file C:\ApplianceProvisioningConfiguration.xml to the root of each volume on the system overwriting the previous one (virtual standby, repository, WinBackups, etc.)
- Start the core service
