How is Active Administrator licensed?
Active Administrator is licensed by the total number of enabled user objects in the licensee’s Active Directory.
Can I use my license for a selected group of users, or for just part of the domain, or just one of my domains?
No. You must purchase one user license for every enabled user object in the licensee’s Active Directory domain where Active Administrator is used, regardless of the number of sites, domains or OUs.
What user license quantities are available?
Licenses can be bought in any quantity above the minimum of 50.
Can I move licenses from one server to another?
Licenses are not tied to particular domain controllers or member servers.
What happens if I exceed my license count?
The process is the same for all products; contact your re-seller or Quest representative to purchase more licenses. Quest can also be reached at our Contact us page. When your order has been processed you will be provided with a new electronic license for the total quantity of licenses you purchased.
Using Quest products in excess of the licenses you have purchased and installed is a violation of the License Agreement (Transaction Product Agreement). You are required to ensure you have sufficient licenses for the number of enabled user objects in your Active Directory.
Is an evaluation license available? What restrictions does it have?
The simplest place for any license-related information is the Active Administrator
Application Console License Dashboard. To access this, click on "Help" then "License
Dashboard" to see detailed license information, including details on what license file has
been applied (issue date, expiration date, number of licensed users) as well as details on
licensing usage; it shows the number of enabled users by domain. This information can be
exported to a text file and saved if needed. New license files can be applied and the company
licensing agreement (Transaction Product Agreement) can also be viewed.
From both the Application Console or the Server Management Application, go to the ‘Help’
menu, select ‘About’ and then ‘License’ to see existing applied license information or apply
new license files and access the company licensing agreement (Transaction Product
Agreement).
The applied license information is also included in the Active Administrator Server
Configuration Report for customer convenience.
How do I install the Management Console on multiple work-stations?
Every time you install Active Administrator on a workstation you must re-apply the original
license file supplied to you by Quest.
