backup fails with error message: Failed to acquire the shared resources. (Skipping VA-based VDDK HotAdd. VMware does not support HotAdd of the proxy.)
This error occurs when trying to backup the vRanger virtual appliance from the vRanger box that it is configured for.
This is similar to trying to hot-add backup the vRanger box whne vRanger is running on a virtual machine. This can happen if you are doing a cluster level job and the VA does not get excluded. Or if you are doing a host level job and the VA is vmotioned to host that includes all VMs.
This does not cause any issues it jsut skips the VM. To keep from getting error message or notification make sure that VAs are excluded from any backup job.
