VA based backups fail with 2258 can't create the directory -
Description
Backup Job is configured to do Virtual Appliance (VA) based backups. The backup tasks starts but it logs a failure and will retry. Same thing repeats until the task eventually completely fails. -
Cause
The vRanger server is expecting a response from the Virtual Appliance but does not recieve it in the time allowed. -
Resolution
The time allowed can be increased by modifing the vRanger service configuration file.
- exit vRanger GUI
- stop Dell vRanger Service
- using notepad open the file vizioncore.vranger.service.exe.config (default location is C:\Program Files\Dell\vRanger)
- locate <add key="SSHChannelWaitTime" value="120"/>
- change the 120 (in seconds) to the desired value, suggested value is 300
- save the file
- start the Dell vRanger Service
