Can an existing IIS server be utilized without having it install IIS Express version? Also will it break things in existing IIS? -
Description
During installation, TIC installer wants to install IIS Express. If IIS is already installed, can the existing IIS server be utilized without having it install the IIS Express version? Also, will it change / break things in existing IIS? -
Resolution
TIC can be run in IIS, but you will need to deploy it to IIS manually. After the TIC install completes, go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services to stop Toad Web Server (Toad Intelligence Central) and change its startup type to Disabled. Doing this will make sure the default deployment on IIS Express does not work. After this, you will be able to deploy the TIC to IIS. The site content path is the installation path of Toad Intelligence Central Web Server. Normally, it's C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad Intelligence Central Web Server\ in 3.3 TIC. In previous version, it should be Dell instead of Quest Software.
Also, it will not break things in existing IIS. If there are no other things preventing customer to use IIS Express, we suggest to use the default IIS Express. In addition, we may remove the dependence on IIS Express in a future release.
