The SGA panel shows:

SGA Panel

Buffer Cache

The amount of buffer cache on the Standby database.

Data travels from the Apply Server to the Database Writer through the Buffer Cache. The Buffer Cache will request data from disk if required.

Data flows

Standby Logs to Apply Server to Buffer Cache

The rate at which data is transferred to Apply Server processes and the Buffer Cache.

Dependent on the type of Standby database:

  • Physical Standby - The “redo blocks read for recovery”
  • Logical Standby - The “db block changes”
Data Files to Buffer Cache The rate of physical reads from data files, as required by the Buffer Cache.
Buffer Cache to Database Writer to Data Files The rate modified blocks are written to disk.
