Session SQL Page

The Session SQL page shows the SQL in all open cursors for the session. From this page you can use the Explain Plan to explain the SQL, or SQL Optimizer (if installed) to provide context-sensitive tuning advice for SQL statements.

To open the Session SQL page

  1. Select the Spotlight on Oracle connection in the Spotlight Browser.
  2. Click I/O | Sessions Page.

  3. Select a Session in the Top Sessions grid.
  4. Click Session SQL.

Note: Alternatively, you can view Session SQL on the Top Sessions | Session SQL Page.

To display session information for a SQL statement

  1. Highlight the SQL statement in the Open SQL grid.
  2. Do one of the following:

    Action

    Description

    Click Explain SQL

    Explain the SQL via the Explain Plan. Tools | Explain Plan

    Click SQL Optimizer

    Display context-sensitive tuning advice for SQL statements via SQL Optimizer (or SQL Tuning). Tools | SQL Optimizer

    Note: For more information on SQL Optimizer, see the SQL Optimizer documentation.

    Click Show in Top SQL

    Open the SQL in the TOP SQL Drilldown | Top SQL Page

    Right-click the SQL Text window and select Format SQL. Display the SQL statement in a more readable form.

    Note: If the SQL cannot be explained, the Explain Plan and SQL Optimizer actions may be unavailable.
