Spotlight on DB2 6.9.3 - Release Notes

Log I/O Rates

The Log dataflows depict the rate at which the logger is reading log records from disk to memory during database recoveries and writing log records from log buffers to disk across all databases in the DB2 instance.

Required monitor switch

None

Displayed statistic

At each refresh, Spotlight captures the following statistics and displays them just above their respective rate dataflow.

  • W/s (log write rate)—The total number of log writes per second for all databases and partitions within the instance

  • R/s (log read rate)—The total number of log reads per second for all databases and partitions in the instance

Graph

The line graph that overlays each dataflow plots the instance-wide log write or read rates captured over the series of refreshes that have occurred during the Spotlight session.

Associated drilldown

Clicking in the Global Database I/O panel opens the Database Manager Summary drilldown. This drilldown provides details about all the active databases and partitions in the DB2 instance. You can select any database or partition to view details about that database, including I/O activity details.
