Spotlight on DB2 6.10 - Getting Started Guide

moving average

An average of the values returned by a specific metric during the most recent consecutive Spotlight refreshes. This averaged value is updated at each refresh.

When you define a moving average for the metric on which a statistic or graph is based, the statistic value or the graph point produced at each refresh is actually an average of values returned over a specified number of refreshes. Likewise, the threshold and alarm status at any given time for the metric is based on the most recent averaged value, not on an actual returned statistic. You can adjust the moving average for a metric—that is, modify the number of values averaged at each refresh—or choose not to use a moving average for the metric.
