Adding the target machine as a client fails, after successful push installation.

Push installation succeeds on the target machine, however adding the machine as client fails with warning.

Adding a new client on the target machine fails with a warning message, after successful push installation of a remote client target machine.

While adding the machine as a client on the target machine, following warnings are displayed in task logs,

NetVault Backup Server is unable to contact NetVault Backup Client on the target machine due to firewall configurations. Configure the firewall on the target machine to add the machine as a client. For more information, see, Quest NetVault Backup Administrator’s Guide.

Unable to install, uninstall or navigate catalog search page after manually uninstalling NetVault Backup Client Host.

If catalog search is installed on NetVault Backup Client host and this client host is manually uninstalled or not accessible, you are unable to install, uninstall or navigate catalog search page.

Cannot navigate catalog search page, or it appears as catalog search is installed on the client host.

Check if catalog search is not available on the client host. If catalog search is not available, change the parameters and their values in the catalog.cfg configuration file. You can now re-install catalog search on the selected NetVault Backup Client host. For more information, see, Managing catalog search.

Open the catalog.cfg file to edit, available in config directory.

Save and Close the catalog.cfg file

Unable to install, uninstall catalog search on client after NetVault Backup Server migration with the same or different server name

After performing successful NetVault Backup migration you are unable to install catalog search on selected client. After installing catalog search successfully, catalog search still shows as uninstalled or displays an error "Catalog Search is installed by other NetVault Backup Server”.

After performing successful NetVault Backup migration you are unable to install catalog search on selected client. After installing catalog search successfully, catalog search still shows as uninstalled or displays an error "Catalog Search is installed by other NetVault Backup Server”.

Manually validate catalog search installation in <NVBU Backup Server Installation\Quest\NetVault Backup\catalog> folder, if catalog search is installed, you need to uninstall catalog search from the following NetVault Backup installation directory.

Safe Mode in NetVault Backup

The following error occurs when NetVault Backup is in Safe Mode, “NetVault Backup Server is in safe mode. Please contact your service provider.”

In this case tenant must contact MSP administrator.

The following error conditions can force NetVault Backup to run in Safe Mode:

In Safe mode MSP administrator must read the message from <Installation location>\config\safemode.cfg>, after login to NetVault Backup Server

This file keeps the cause of NetVault Backup Server to run in Safe Mode.

The following table describes the error types and possible options to resolve the issue identified in safemode.cfg:

Key process failures

When NetVault Backup enters safe mode due to this error, no options are provided to resolve the issue.

Database connection failures

Please validate PostgreSQL Service logs and resolve the issue. You can now restart the services, if issue persist contact NetVault support.

 

Low disk space issues

Reclaim space in NetVault Backup installation location and go to restart NetVault Backup in normal mode

Restart NetVault Backup in normal mode: Once NetVault Backup enters safe mode, it remains in this mode whether the error is resolved or not. To exit safe mode, restart NetVault Backup in normal mode.
Stop the NetVault Backup Process Manager and NetVault Backup PostgreSQL database server services. Remove safemode.cfg file from the following location: <Installation location>\config\safemode.cfg> and restart NetVault Backup PostgreSQL database server and NetVault Process Manager services.
Restart NetVault Backup with diagnostic tracing enabled: For diagnostic tracing consult Quest Technical Support.
