Welcome to the Foglight User Guide. This guide helps you monitor your enterprise from a variety of perspectives using the Alarms, Domains, My Services, and Hosts dashboards. It presents workflows for drilling down and investigating problems in your monitored environment using these dashboards.
The User Guide is organized as follows:
Getting Started with Foglight — this section provides instructions for logging in to Foglight and describes the Welcome page you see when you log in with the General Access role. It also introduces you to navigating the Foglight browser interface and discusses best practices for navigation.
Viewing, Acknowledging, and Clearing Alarms — this section discusses using the Alarms dashboard to view the state of alarms across your monitored environment and take immediate action on them.
Viewing, Creating, and Managing Alarm Templates— this section discusses using the Alarm Templates dashboard to view the alarms and rules in the default factory template and customize those alarms as required for your environment.
Monitoring Your Domains — this section discusses using the Domains dashboard to obtain a high-level view of the state of your monitored domains and investigate problems in a particular domain.
Monitoring Your Services — this section discusses using the My Services to monitor your critical services and tailor the way Foglight presents information about monitored components.
Monitoring Your Hosts — this section describes how to monitor your hosts using workflows that start in the Hosts dashboard to view the performance of all monitored hosts or drill down on a single host.
Reporting on Your Enterprise — this section introduces the Reports dashboard, your starting point for working with reports. Consult this section for information about running reports, building custom report templates, viewing generated reports, scheduling reports, and managing reports.
