Spotlight on Oracle 10.4 - Release Notes

Sample Data

When you start using Predictive Diagnostics on your own Oracle database, Spotlight will take some time (typically, about 10 days) to collect enough data to make valid predictions on the future performance of the database.

In the meantime, you can use some prepared sample data to learn more about Predictive Diagnostics and how it works.

How to install Sample data if it is not already installed

If the current Spotlight connection was created initially without installing the sample data for Predictive Diagnostics, you can add the sample data later via Spotlight's Oracle User Wizard.

  1. Close the current Spotlight connection but do NOT exit Spotlight.
  2. Click File | Oracle User Wizard... Click Next on the first User Wizard window.
  3. Type the SQL*Net connection string, user name, and password for the SYS or DBA account on the target database. Click Next.
  4. Click Set up an existing user | Next. A list of available users appears.
  5. Select the user and type the correct password in the User password field. Click Next.
  6. Select Install sample data for Predictive Diagnostics. Click Next.
  7. Change the Predictive Diagnostics settings if you want to. Click Next.
  8. Continue and complete the standard installation procedure.
  9. Re-open the Spotlight connection. You can now access the sample data.
