Upgrading SharePlex Manager

If you have SharePlex Manager version 2.2 installed and want to upgrade to version 3.0, back up your Foglight 5.5.8 server and database, stop SharePlex Web Services (if running) and then follow the installation instructions as described in this document.

Note
When you upgrade SharePlex Manager, there is a 5 to 8 second time span during which SharePlex Manager 2.2 is disabled and SharePlex Manager 3.0 is enabled. During this time, you may receive “Unable to connect to adaptor” messages, which can be ignored.

If upgrading from Foglight 5.5.8.3, you must upgrade to Foglight 5.7.5.8 before you can upgrade to Foglight 5.9.2.

Upgrade Foglight 5.5.8.3 to Foglight 5.7.5.8

Download and copy installers:

Download the Foglight 5.7.5.8 installer. Copy it to the current Foglight host machine.

Copy the Foglight 5.9.2 installer to the current Foglight host machine. The Foglight 5.9.2 installer is distributed with SharePlex Manager 3.0.

Copy the SharePlex Manager 3.0 cartridge (SharePlexManager_<version>.car) to the Foglight host machine or a local folder accessible by your web browser.
Upgrade to Foglight 5.7.5.8

Log into Foglight 5.5.8.3.

Under the Homes category (located on the left panel), select Administration > Cartridges > Inventory.

Select a method (File on Local Computer or File on Server) to select the SharePlex_<version>.car cartridge file to be installed.

Click Install Cartridge.

Cartridge should be installed and enabled.

Install Foglight 5.7.5.8.

Then install Foglight 5.9.2. For more information about installing Foglight, see “Install Foglight 5.9.2” on page 5.

After installation, start Foglight if not already started. You may experience a delay upon initial startup of Foglight 5.9.2 after the upgrade, as upgrades are being processed.

Installing SharePlex Manager

Download the SharePlex Manager Installer
To download the SharePlex Manager installer:

Depending on your operating system, download one of the following three files to a temporary location (a dedicated, empty directory is preferred):
•
For Windows - SharePlexManager-3_0_0-windows.zip
•
For Linux - SharePlexManager-3_0_0-linux-ia32.tar

Depending on your operating system, do one of the following
•
For Windows, open SharePlexManager-3_0_0-windows.zip
•
For Linux, execute the following command:
tar xfv SharePlexManager-3_0_0-linux-ia32.tar
The directory will then contain:
•
The Foglight Server installer
•
The Foglight Server documentation
•
The SharePlex Manager installer
•
SharePlex_Manager_Installation_Guild.pdf
•
SharePlex_Manager_relnotes.html
•
SharePlex_Manager_User_Guild.pdf
•
OpenSource, a directory containing the legally required third-party sources.
