Cache Miss Rate Alarm

This alarm is raised when the Global Cache Local Miss Rate exceeds a specified threshold. The Cache Miss Rate is the percentage of time that a block required for a logical read is located in an inconsistent mode on ANOTHER instance in the cluster and must be transferred. Possible causes for this alarm are:

  • Hot blocks. A hot block is one that is subject to very high transfer rates and/or latency.
  • Excessive cluster co-ordination activity.

Possible solutions to this problem are:

  • To partition hot tables.
  • To segregate application activity by using services.
