Disabling tracing

Tracing can affect performance and generate large amounts of data on the server and client machines. After your issue is resolved, make sure that tracing is disabled on all relevant NetVault Backup machines.

On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.
On the Configuration page, click Client Settings. In the NetVault Backup Clients table, select the client, and click Next. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.
On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing. On the Diagnostic Trace Settings page, click Client Trace Settings, and select the clients. You can select multiple clients from this page.

Deleting trace session directories

If trace files are no longer required, you can delete the session directories to remove all trace files generated during the selected sessions.

On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.
On the Configuration page, click Client Settings. In the NetVault Backup Clients table, select the client, and click Next. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.
On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing. On the Diagnostic Trace Settings page, click Client Trace Settings. Select the client, and click Browse Available Traces.

Click Delete, and in the confirmation dialog box, click OK.

 

Managing diagnostic data

About support diagnostics

Support diagnostics is used to collect the detailed information of your NetVault Backup environment. Quest Technical Support personnel uses this information for debugging and troubleshooting purposes. The information can be used to analyze and resolve any problem that may occur in your NetVault Backup environment. The audit tool collects the information about the NetVault Backup Server and selected clients. This collected information is stored in a compressed file and downloaded on your local machine. NetVault Backup WebUI enables you to download or upload the diagnostic data of server and selected clients. You can upload the information corresponding to a SR number directly to Quest Technical Support for further analysis.
