Setting testing options

To set testing options

Select DNS | DNS Monitoring.

By default, DNS monitoring is enabled. To disable automatic testing, clear the check box.

By default, tests run every 15 minutes. To change the time period, type a value in the box. Acceptable time period values are 5 to 1440 minutes.

Click Save Settings.

Creating tests

You can create a new test or copy an existing test to modify as a new test.

To create a new test

Select DNS | DNS Monitoring.

Click Add.

Type a name for the test.

Type the DNS server to test.

By default, the test is enabled so it automatically runs at the specified time duration set on the main page. If you want to disable the test, clear the check box. You can run the test manually.

Select to run an Active Directory® domain test or create a custom test.

To create an Active Directory Domain test

Select Active Directory Domain Test.

Browse to locate the domain to test.

The domain controller IP addresses are validated by default. If you do not want the validation performed, clear the check box.

To create a custom test

Select Custom Test.

Click Add.

Select the type of record to test.

Type the query.

Click OK.

Click OK. See Running tests.

To create a new test by copying an existing test

Select DNS | DNS Monitoring.

Select a test, and click Copy.

Modify the test to meet the needs of the new test.

Click OK. See Running tests.
