Copy jobs involving NetAPP devices on Source or Target of the migration have the data on all files and folders copied correctly. However all permissions from the Source are missing.
Typically, 'Everyone' credential with Full permissions is left on the Access Control List (ACL) on the target device. 'Everyone' group might not have been present on the Source paths or data.
1. Data is being copied between devices in different domains and the authenticating domain controller in the Source domain does not have a trust relationship with the Target domain.
2. The Service account from source domain had no administrative privileges on the filer blocking changes of file/directory ownership and permissions.
Specify global catalog servers in NetApp configuration. Global catalog servers are required to copy between domains and the domains must have a trust relationship.
If a domain controller is not specified in the NetAPP configuration, the device should automatically seek a domain controller that is a global catalog server.
Service account from source domain must have administrative privileges on the filer and be a member of the Backup Operators security group.
Suggested command lines on the NetAPP devices:
vserver cifs users-and-groups local-group add-members -vserver [ServerName] -group-name "Backup Operators" -member-names {DomainName]
