Title
After restoring SQL Server Database files, the last modified date is older then backup date. -
Description
After restoring the SQL Database (Simple Mode) files from a Recovery Point you notice that the Database Files last modified date is older then the backup/snapshot time.
If you look at other files, such as the Rapid Recovery Agent log files it shows the files were updated the same time as the recovery point date/time.

Cause
SQL only updates the date modified timestamp after a checkpoint. A checkpoint only happens in specific cases. Please see the following link discussing this topic:From what we can see the checkpoint isn't happening regularly on your system. Hence the backups of the DBs show old timestamps. That doesn't mean the data isn't there, just that SQL modified the DB without updating the timestamp of the file. Hence the Windows timestamp cannot be trusted to tell you when the last time the file was modified. -
Resolution
Please work with your Database Administrator to restore the MDF and the LDF and allow SQL to start up and replay the logs into the database.
Once the Database is started, the last modified date/time will be updated.
