Vmware backup fails with the mentioned error
"Fault string is 'An error occurred while quiescing the virtual machine. See the virtual machine's event log for details"

Resolution
Reinstalling the VMware Tools from the virtual machine, and deselecting the "Volume Shadow Copy Services Support" option to prevent the VMware VSS Provider from being installed that creates conflict in creation of snapshots and said failure
Additionally the VSS can be deselected @ Vcenter/ESX&VM Level.
Right click the Vcenter server, select set backup preferences, if in here we see use volume shadow services is selected deselect the option.
