Description
While installing Netvault on Linux server the setup might fail with the below error.
Error:Setup has detected an existing installation of NetVault Backup, but failed to determine its version.
Cause
When NetVault is manually removed or the uninstallation halted suddenly, it might leave traces of NetVault in the system configuration and/or environment variables.
Resolution
When there is problem installing NetVault on a system, typically the following fixes must be applied:
In Linux, remove NetVault environmental variables as well as the following directory "rm -rf /etc/.nv6_home".Once removed the setup will run smoothly.
In Windows, delete any lingering NetVault Process Manager service entries on the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetVault Process Manager HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\NetVault Process Manager HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\NetVault Process Manager
