It is observed that a Restore job fails immediately with "The job Restore 'Name of the job' has completed with a status of Failed"
Following line is also present in Recent Jobs view in vRanger:
"Reason:Unable to locate host host-ID#"
FQDN of the ESXi host has changed. Also, Root credentials were previously applied that are no longer there.
vRanger database does not have the correct FQDN stored in the database. Previous one is still present.
Or
Root credentials are applied to an ESXi host, causing the ESXi host credentials to be interpreted above the vCenter credentials.
Or
Remove Root credentials from the target ESXi host.
