How to install the Log Reader components manually. An onscreen error may display if the components are not installed or registered.
Install (Configure) Log Reader server components fails with "DLL initailizaiton failed"
Or
"Cannot load the DLL xpQuestLogReader.dll"
or
"Cannot load the DLL xpLogReader.dll"
For versions 6.6 and above:

1.Find the SQL Server root directory (right-click on server/properties, get the root directory)
2.Copy the xp_LogReader.dll' from C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server <version>\Plugins\SqlServer\LogReader
Note: if your SQL Server version is 64 bit. copy the xp_LogReader_x64.dll
3.Paste the .dll into the root directory\Bin Folder and rename it as xp_LogReader.dll
4.Execute the commands on the SQL Server instance(master database)
EXEC sp_addextendedproc 'xp_qlr_version', 'xp_LogReader.dll'
EXEC sp_addextendedproc 'xp_qlr_logfile', 'xp_LogReader.dll'
EXEC sp_addextendedproc 'xp_qlr_loginfo', 'xp_LogReader.dll'
EXEC sp_addextendedproc 'xp_qlr_logread', 'xp_LogReader.dll'
To check if install was successful , execute the following query.
exec master..xp_qlr_version
If the version number return, then it was successful
For versions 6.5 and below:

1. Look for 'xp_QuestLogReader.dll' in C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server \Plugins\SqlServer\LogReader.
2. Copy xp_QuestLogReader.dll to the \BIN folder of the SQL Server instance where you want to install Log Reader Server Components. Usually in the directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Bin
a. If the SQL Server is 64 bit please use the correct x64 or ia64 dll.
You can use xp_QuestLogReader.dll for x86; xp_QuestLogReader_x64.dll is for x64; xp_QuestLogReader_ia64.dll is for Itanium.
After placing the correct 64bit type dll (xp_QuestLogReader_x64.dll ; xp_QuestLogReader_ia64.dll) into the BIN Directory, please rename the DLL back to its original name xp_QuestLogReader.dll
b. If you don't know if your SQL Server is 32 or 64 bit, Run this query in your Toad Editor window when connecting the Database.
SELECT @@VERSION
Result:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1617.0 (Intel X86)
If the version returned is x86 that means it is a 32 bit installation and if it is x64 then it means it is a 64 bit installation.
3. Execute the followng commands on the SQL Server instance.
