Compare Object is slow when connecting to the Target db, and "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error is also received.

When trying to compare an object from 1 database to another, it is extremely slow when trying to connect to the Target database, and then when trying to build the initial list after the Target is selected.  Also the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" is received if other activities are performed while the compare is still running.  This only happens in version 6.1; version 6.0 works fine.
