How do I configure Stat to archive an oracle EBS object contained on a non-App server ( webser) -

I have a client that needs to migrate files to a server that is not an App Server. How do I configure Stat to do that? I have read and re-read the Admin Guide and do not understand how to define an OraApps Base Directory that points to a different server. How does Stat know how to log on to the server? When would I use a Custom object type for EBS as opposed to Generic? I do not understand the difference.
