Error when launching SQL Navigator, after upgrading to version 5.1: "Code Assistant Code Catalog file could not be found and cannot be created. Please check that CODECAT.CAC is in the correct directory."
The following errors may also appear:
"Code Assistant SQL Catalog not found."
"Unhandled exception at start up - file not found."
SQL Navigator 5.1 uses a different directory structure and stores Code Catalog files in the Windows User folder. SQL Navigator 5.1 may be looking in the wrong location for them.
Copy Code Catalog files from old directory to the new one:
1. Shut down SQL Navigator.
2. Enable Windows Explorer to allow view of hidden files and folders:
- Open Windows Explorer
- Select Tools | Folder Options | View | Show Hidden Files and Folders
- Click Apply and OK
3. Browse to the directory of the old SQL Navigator installation.
4. Copy the *.cac and *.~ca files to the new directory "C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Application Data\Quest Software\SQL Navigator".
5. Launch SQL Navigator.
OR
Point SQL Navigator to the correct directory for the Code Catalog files:
1. Launch SQL Navigator.
2. Select View | Preferences | General | Code Assistant | Standards Catalog Directory.
3. Point to the correct directory.
4. Restart SQL Navigator.
This directory structure change was made to enhance support for multi-user and Citrix installations.
