How to run the application in debug mode to capture a more detailed log file.
Enable debugging in Security Explorer
1 - On the computer where Security Explorer is installed, browse to the installation folder C:\Program Files\Quest\Security Explorer
2 - Right click the file "SecurityExplorer.exe" and select “Send to” Desktop as shortcut.
3 - Modify the shortcut properties and add the /d switch to the end of the Target path:
"C:\Program Files\Quest\Security Explorer\SecurityExplorer.exe" /d
4 - Start security explorer from the new shortcut created on the desktop.
5 - When Security Explorer has started, go to the tools menu and open the options dialog. A new option “Log path names for….” (normally hidden) will be present at the bottom of the “General” tab. Select this option and click [OK] to close the options dialog.
5 - Conduct a security operation as normal, replicate the issue
6 - After reproducing the issue, use Windows Explorer to browse to C:\ProgramData\Quest\Security Explorer\v9\Logs. A new file will be present. The name of the file will contain the current date and time (for example 20230529_145019_468.log).
7 - Send the new log file to Quest Software Support
Note: The debug log is located in the installation folder, which by default is C:\ProgramData\Quest\Security Explorer\v9\Logs
