Regrant Admin Consent for Migration – SharePoint Applications (Q3 2025) -

The Migration – SharePoint applications have been updated to streamline and reduce duplication of permissions previously granted through the Migration – Teams apps. To maintain uninterrupted migration functionality with On Demand Migration for Teams (ODMT), admin consent must be regranted for the Migration – SharePoint applications used by On Demand Migration by September 30, 2025. No action is required for migrations initiated by ODM SharePoint.

The following application permissions have been added to the Migration – SharePoint applications:
- Migration – SharePoint Minimal app: Sites.Read.All (Application)
- Migration – SharePoint Full app: Sites.ReadWrite.All (Application)
These permissions are being removed from the Migration – Teams applications to improve permission management and simplify our applications for Microsoft’s upcoming granular SharePoint permission model. This change allows for more precise control and better alignment with future SharePoint security enhancements.
Action Required
To ensure migrations continue to run without interruption after September 30, 2025, regrant admin consent for the Migration – SharePoint applications in your tenant(s).
Impact if No Action is Taken
If admin consent is not regranted by the deadline, migration tasks that require SharePoint permissions may fail due to insufficient access to the source and/or target environments.
