Migrating SharePoint site with the SharePoint UI dashboard in On Demand Migration (ODM) and we get this error:
"Migration of the site '*******' was skipped. Group sites must exist on target before migration." or "This site is a Group site. Migration of a Group sites is not supported if the corresponding Group site does not exist already on the target O365 tenancy. Please create the Group site on the target first then retry migrating this site" -
해결 방안
When migrating SharePoint, there are a few scenarios to consider. How to perform the migration depends on whether that SharePoint site is also a M365 Group. You can determine that in the Admin Portal under 'Groups' | 'Active Groups', like in the screenshot below.
If the SharePoint Site is listed there, then it is not just a plain SharePoint site, it is also a M365 Group as well. Further, if it has the Teams icon in the 'Team Status' column, then it is also a Team.- Scenario 1 - SharePoint site is not found on the Group page, then migrate as a SharePoint migration
- Scenario 2 - SharePoint site is found on the Group page, with an empty 'Team status' column, migrate as a M365 Group from the ODM Teams M365 Group tab. To be able to migrate the content from an M365 Group, an M365 Group Provision task would have to be run prior to the migration task.
- Scenario 3 - SharePoint site listed on the Group page, with 'Team status' column containing the Teams icon, migrate as a Team from within ODM Teams. To be able to migrate the content from a Team, a Teams Provision task would have to be run prior to the migration task.
- Scenario 1 - SharePoint site is not found on the Group page, then migrate as a SharePoint migration
