When MFG (Migrator for GroupWise) or ODME (On Demand Migrator for Email) is used to set forwarding from GroupWise to Exchange and a message is sent to the GroupWise mailbox (where forwarding is set), the message received in the foreign mail system (Exchange) is encapsulated. The original (sent) message is placed as an attachment within a forwarded message. The receiving person in Outlook has to open the Forwarded message, then open the enclosed message to see the real message and reply to it. Very inconvenient for the receiving user.
This is the default behaviour of (Novell) GroupWise.
To change this behaviour on the GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA), please see the following Novell TID:10058490 titled "Can a forwarded message show being "From" original sender?":
http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7002601
*Please note that this is a Novell product setting. Prior to making this Novell/GroupWise change, please research and/or contact Novell to determine if this will have any side affects to the GroupWise environment.
This procedure is referred to as flat forwarding.
MFG and ODME sets the forwarding rule on each individual GroupWise mailbox (that is within the selected CSV file) via the "Tools | Rules" menu.
Please note that MFG and ODME do not provide routing. The address placed in this value ("Tools | Rules" menu) needs to be deliverable/routable from the GroupWise Server to the foreign mail system.
So (as an example) if username@domain.com is placed as the forwarding value (within a GroupWise mailbox), one should be able to launch a GroupWise client manually, create a new mail message and place username@domain.com in the 'To:' field and send the message. If Internet routing works, this message should be delivered from the GroupWise server and received and read by the receiving username@domain.com user in their foreign mail system. If this does not work, then this will be need to be addressed before Quest MFG or ODME sets this value.
