Description: Instructions for recreating a device tree on a Netvault server.
Symptoms:
1) Make a note of all netvault device names and configuration settings such as block size etc,Stop the Netvault server services
2) Move the files:
~netvault/db/MediaDatabase/Indexes/DeviceTree
and
~netvault/db/MediaDatabase/Records/DeviceTree
to a safe location
3) Restart the Netvault server services, this will create a new empty DeviceTree (i.e. recreate the above files as empty).
4) re-add the storage devices to Netvault checking that the device names are the same as before
This process will have no effect on existing Netvault Job Schedules, unless a device that was being targeted as been removed as part of this process.
Explanation:
Part of the Netvault Media database holds the internal device tree, i.e. the storage devices attached to Netvault. On occasion if there are problems with devices you may be asked by support to recreate these files.
