How to register the Migration Manager for Exchange 8.15.9.x Azure Application

An application registration is required for MMEX 8.15.9.x

Migration Manager for Exchange 8.15.9.x requires an Azure application be registered within the target Tenant prior to adding the target within Migration Manager for Exchange

The following information is required when adding the tenant as a migration target in Migration Manager for Exchange:

Application ID - Obtain from the application "Overview" once the Azure Application Registration is complete per the Resolution steps
Client Secret - Secret Value generated when creating the secrete in the Resolution steps
Tenant ID - Obtain from your tenant EntraID Admin Center Overview page
Admin SMTP - The SMTP address of the 365 Admin Account

 

Login to the Microsoft Entra Admin Center for the target tenant, with a Global Administrator Account

-Click Applications
-Click App Registrations

-Click New Registration

-Provide a user facing display name for the application registration ie. "MMEX" or similar.
-Select "Accounts in this organization directory only (Contoso Only - Single Tenant)
-Set the "Redirect URI (Optional) to: https://login.microsofonline.com/common/oauth2/nativeclient
-Click Register

Back at the MMEX registration page,
-Click Certificates & Secrets
-Click New Client Secret

Ensure to copy the Secret value, and save it somewhere safe, as it is not possible to retrieve later

Mail & Calendar migration permissions requirements

-Click API Permissions
-Click Add a Permission
-Click API's My Organization uses (Top Right)
-Search for and Select Office 365 Exchange Online

-Click Application Permissions (Top Right)
-Select "Full_Access_As_App"

Back at the App Registration window,
-Click Add a Permission
-Click Microsoft Graph

-Click Application Permissions

-In the list of API Permissions, Expand "Directory" and select "Directory.ReadWrite.All" 

Back at the main MMEX API Permissions page

-Click "Grant Admin Consent for Contoso/Tenant Name"

Back at the App Registration page, the permissions should appear as:   Any additional Delegated permissions automatically added can be removed, as they are not required.

Public folders migration permissions requirements

Follow the above steps to add "ExchangeManageAsApp" prior to the following

Back at the Entra Admin Center,

-Click and expand  "Roles & Admins" (Far left)
-Click "Roles & Admins"
-Search for "Exchange Administrator"
-Click the result "Exchange Administrator"

-Click "Add assignments"

-Search for the Application name as created above, ie. MMEX
-Click the Application in the search results
-Click "Add" to complete the assignment
