Note: Once HP and or Lenovo warranty configuration is applied, all respective HP and Lenovo systems will automatically have their warranty information updated in batches of 50 per 4 hour interval (this is not currently configurable). Warranty information can also be updated on a per-device basis manually by clicking the Refresh button under the Hardware section of the device inventory detail page.
HP Warranty Configuration
The following steps outline the process to obtain and apply an HP API key to allow the KACE SMA to query HP Warranty information.
NOTE: The HP Warranty API does NOT cover servers made by HP's sister-company, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). Upon accessing the page containing the form, HP prompts viewers 'The Warranty API is currently unavailable'. Despite the API server being down, the form can still be filled and submitted which resides further down the page. Please reference article https://support.quest.com/kb/282650/hp-warranty-currently-unavailable for more information.
- Login to https://developers.hp.com. Create an account if you do not already have one.
- Go to https://developers.hp.com/css-enroll and fill out the form. Once submitted, you must wait for HP to respond stating the API has been enabled on your account.
- Once the email response from HP is received acknowledging approval of the CSS API, go back to https://developers.hp.com.
- Click the profile name (typically email address) drop-down and choose My Apps.
- Click Add a new App.
- Choose HP Product Warranty as the Product. If the Product field does not provide you with an option to select HP Product Warranty, its because your account has not been completely approved by HP. When the API server is down, new accounts can be created but will not have access to have the option of adding a new app until it is back online.
- Check the box that appears for warranty under Select Product Scopes.
- Fill in an App Name (does not matter for the KACE SMA; this is for tracking purposes). Developer Redirect URL is not required.
- Click Create App.
- Click on the newly created app on the HP Developers site.
- Go back to the SMA Admin interface and browse to Settings: General Settings (within the ORG on multi-ORG licenses).
- Copy and paste the API Key and API Secret from the HP Developers site to the appropriate fields on the General Settings page. Save.
Lenovo Warranty Configuration
The following steps outline the process to obtain and apply an Lenovo API key to allow the KACE SMA to query Lenovo Warranty information.
Note: The KACE SMA contains a default ClientID that should work for the foreseeable future, but it may stop working at any time. To ensure no interruption in warranty info service for Lenovo, a company-specific ClientID should be obtained and applied.
- Contact your Lenovo Account Representative to obtain a ClientID for use with the Lenovo Support API.
- In the SMA Admin interface, browse to Settings: General Settings (within the ORG on multi-ORG licenses).
- Copy and paste the ClientID from Lenovo to the appropriate field on the General Settings page. Save.
