Error backing up object when trying to register a GPO

When you try to register a GPO in the GPOAdmin client you get the following error:

"Error backing up object"

If you select show details the following error is shown:

"Quest.Avalanche.Exceptions.AvalancheActionException: Error backing up object. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))"

Insufficient permissions.

Verify that the service account has either Domain Admin access or all of the permissions outlined in the minimum permissions article:

Please also ensure the GPOAdmin server has the latest critical Windows Updates.

 

 

To verify if the issue is permissions related, grant the service account Domain Admin and restart the service and then attempt to create the GPO. Alternatively change the service account to a domain admin. If using the minimum permissions guide and still having an issue try adding the service account to the "Group Policy Creator Owners" group and then restarting the GPOADmin service.
